Superintendent

Dr. Gregg Russell was named interim superintendent in February 2022 and formally named superintendent February 2023. Previously, he had been serving as assistant superintendent of teaching and learning.

Beginning in 2002, Dr. Russell spent 12 years working for the Nampa School District as a teacher and administrator, most recently as principal of Ronald Reagan Elementary School. While at Reagan, he was named the Idaho Education Association Region 8 Outstanding Principal of the Year.

In 2014, he moved to Northwest Nazarene University as an assistant professor in the Doceō Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning. In that capacity, he designed and implemented professional development for teachers and administrators around personalized learning and project management, and oversaw Nampa Personalized Learning. He co-created the HACK Model of Innovative Instruction and has published articles on technology implementation.

Dr. Russell returned to the Nampa School District in 2017 as assistant superintendent. He holds a B.S. in elementary education from Boise State University, an M.Ed. in educational leadership from the University of Idaho, an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership –

Superintendent, and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership.  His research interest focused on principal leadership and change management in innovative learning environments.
