ParentSquare Goes Live

NSD has adopted a new parent communication and engagement tool. Effective July 1, 2022, ParentSquare will replace Remind for all school-related messaging needs, including mass notifications, classroom communications, forms and surveys, and more. Watch for information on how to sign up in an email around July 1.

Change is hard – we get it. So we wanted to take a minute and explain why we are moving to this new tool.

ParentSquare allows for more options for schools and parents, and helps unify districtwide communication by bringing all communication solutions under one umbrella. Parents can choose to receive communication via text, email or the ParentSquare app, and will be able to respond directly to push notifications such as attendance notices. And while many classroom teachers find Remind works for a controlled group (like a class or a club), it is difficult for Information Services to support on a districtwide level.

ParentSquare includes posting, newsletters and other features and gives parents the option of deciding how often to receive messages (other than emergency messages) – you can choose to see them either in real-time or consolidated into one notification per day.

Please note that the district will no longer support Remind after June 30, 2022.
