Fresh Fruit and Veggie Grant Winners Announced

Eleven Nampa School District schools were among 124 statewide to be named recipients of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. Schools were selected through a competitive application process. Schools with the highest enrollment of students identified for free and reduced-cost meals are given priority for participation.

The State Department of Education administers the program as an effective, creative way of introducing fresh fruits and vegetables as healthy snack options for schoolchildren throughout Idaho.  Schools are reimbursed for providing the fresh fruits and vegetables to all students within the school day, at a different time than the school meal programs operate.

Nampa schools selected for the program are: Centennial Elementary, Central Elementary, Endeavor Elementary, Greenhurst Elementary, Iowa Elementary, New Horizons Dual Language Magnet Elementary, Park Ridge Elementary, Sherman Elementary, Snake River Elementary, West Middle School and Willow Creek Elementary.
