Economically Disadvantaged (Title I)
Since 1965, Congress has funded services for struggling students who live in poverty. Poverty levels are determined by the number of students who qualify for free or reduced-priced lunches and U.S. Census data. Services are coordinated through a federal program called Title I.
In the Nampa School District, every school qualifies for and receives Title I funds. Title I funds are used to provide additional teachers and assistants and for training and materials with the goal of improving student reading and math skills.
If you have a child in our schools and would like to apply for free or reduced-priced lunch, please contact Nutrition Services at (208) 468-4607 and ask for an application, or visit https://bit.ly/2XDIaJX. You also may be able to pick up a form from the nutrition staff at your child’s school.
Our Title I programs are based in our schools and are coordinated by Student Services Administrator Heidi Rahn. She may be reached at (208) 468-4601, ext. 1064.
