The Lone Star Middle School Concert Band will perform at the Idaho Music Educators Convention at 4 p.m. Feb. 1 at the University of Idaho, in Moscow. 

The advanced seventh- and eighth-grade musicians are led by Band and Orchestra Director Ted Carrico. Phillip Hoesing, Director of Bands at Nampa High School, and Jared Sene, a student teacher from Northwest Nazarene University, also work with the Lone Star students.

Carrico said that being selected to perform for the annual convention is an extreme honor and privilege. “We hope to represent Nampa Schools, Lone Star Middle School and all of our music programs with pride,” he said.

The program includes five numbers: “Escapada,” by David Moore; “Amazonia,” by Chad Taylor: “Mars” (from “The Planets”), by Gustav Holst; “Flash in the Pan!” by Richard L. Saucedo; and “Metamorphosis,” by Andrew Boysen, Jr.
