Secondary Grades 6-12

The district's middle, high, and alternative schools and career technical education programs are under the supervision of Scott Parker, our Executive Director of Secondary Education.

He has a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from City University of Seattle and his administrator's degree from Washington State University.

Scott has served in education for 23 years.

He began teaching 5th grade with Portland Public Schools.

After PPS, Scott worked in a School Within a School alternative education program with the Vancouver School District at Discovery Middle School.

In 1997, he took a leave of absence from Discovery to implement the same alternative education model at Hermiston High School.

Upon returning to Vancouver, Scott took advantage of an opportunity to return to Portland Public Schools as an alternative education teacher at Jefferson High School.

In 2001, Scott was hired with the Kennewick School District and worked as the Dean of Students while coaching basketball.

Later, he was hired as an assistant principal in charge of athletic/activities. Scott worked for five years as the principal at Highlands Middle School.

At Highlands, he and his team have implemented a Response to Intervention model to meet the needs for all students as well as moved Highlands into becoming a Standards Based Grading School. 

For five years, he worked for Vancouver Public Schools at Fort Vancouver High School, Center for International Studies.

During his time as an instructional leader at Fort CIS, he successfully researched and transitioned Fort Vancouver High School as an International Studies School.  Scott also led the implementation of Pyramid Response to Intervention as well as Standards Based Grading practices to meet the needs of all students during his tenure at Fort CIS. 

He joined the Nampa School District for the 2016-17 School Year.
